View WorksheetABC Tracing — Questions Parents Ask
Most children are ready to start tracing letters between ages 3 and 5, once they can hold a crayon comfortably. Younger toddlers can begin with simple lines and shapes first.
Uppercase letters are usually easier to trace because they use straight lines and simple curves. Many parents start with capitals, then introduce lowercase letters alongside their sounds.
One or two letters per session is plenty for young children. Short, happy practice of 10–15 minutes works far better than long sessions.
