ABC Tracing Worksheet

Letter T Tracing Worksheet for Preschool Kids

The letter T is a simple, sturdy letter that looks like a tall pole with a roof on top, or an umbrella seen from the side. On this worksheet your child practises the uppercase T, which has a tall straight line down with a short line across the very top, and the lowercase t, which is a tall line with a small line crossing a little below the top. The dotted guides help your child draw the straight stroke and place the crossing line neatly.

As your child traces, say the sound “t” as in tree and tiger. This is a crisp tapping sound made with the tongue behind the top teeth, and pairing it with the shape helps the letter stick. The picture cues of a tree, a tiger and a train give cheerful words to name, perhaps with a roar for the tiger or a choo-choo for the train.

This worksheet is made for ages 2 to 7. Younger children enjoy T because its two straight lines are easy and satisfying, while older children write T words and practise the crossing line of lowercase t. Tracing T builds control of straight strokes and teaches children to lift the pencil and add a line in just the right place. Encourage your child to say “line down, then a line across the top” so the strokes feel clear and orderly.
