Square Shape Worksheet for Kids
A square is a shape with 4 straight sides and 4 sharp corners. The best part about a square is that all four of its sides are exactly the same length, so it looks neat and even no matter which way you turn it. Each corner makes a tidy little right angle, like the corner of a book.
When children aged 2 to 7 trace a square, they practise stopping at each corner and drawing four straight lines. This start-and-stop movement teaches careful control and helps them understand edges, corners and early geometry.
Squares pop up all around us. A window, a cardboard box, a square biscuit, a floor tile, a folded napkin and the black-and-white chessboard are all squares. Counting the four equal sides together makes spotting squares an easy and rewarding everyday activity.

Frequently Asked Questions
A square has four sides that are all the same length, while a rectangle has two long sides and two short sides. Both have four corners that make tidy right angles.
Start with dotted lines to trace, then move to drawing between two dots. A ruler or the edge of a book can also help keep their lines lovely and straight.
That is simply what makes a square a square. If you measured every side it would be the same, which is what gives the square its neat and balanced look.
